In an effort to avoid raising show fees and also to raise funds to enable the Snohomish County 4-H Horse Program to continue to provide activities, several new procedures will be implemented at the Fall Show at the fairgrounds:

1. Participants will both bed and strip their own stalls and the majority of the proceeds of the stall fees will go to the county program.

2. One club will be responsible for collecting stall reservations, assigning stalls, having staff on hand to assign stalls during the show, doing a night check and checking out stalls at the end of each day.

3. There will still be the opportunity to pay an additional $15 stall stripping fee, which will go to the Club doing the stalls.

4. Participants, of course, will continue to be responsible for keeping their stalls properly cleaned during the show.

5. Patterns will continue to be posted, however, a copy of each pattern will be available at the Show Office for $1 each.

6. Those desiring duplicate numbers will be able to purchase them at the Show Office for $1.

Rule Change Proposals - August 2008

(Effective October 1, 2008)

1. Limit walk/trot and walk/jog riders to only one level (which would not allow a rider to be walk/trot/walk/jog in one seat and Novice in another seat)

2. Eliminate the option of a twisted wire snaffle and mechanical hackamore in the Beginning Aged Green Horse classes, which are combined with the Beginning Green Horse Classes. (having different tack requirements creates confusion at the shows for these classes)

3. Add a rule that does not allow carrying any item in a rider?s mouth when mounted (i.e. a crop in western games)

4. Allow Dressage Medal Riders to continue to ride at the level at which they earn a medal until they feel ready to move up or until they earn three scores at or above: 63% for bronze medal winners, 64% for silver medal winners and 65% for gold medal winners. (currently our rules force them to ride at the next level and it takes a considerable amount of additional training that often cannot be accomplished in the time between shows and forces them to ride at a level at which they ? horse and/or rider ? are not yet capable)

5. Make Showmanship Medals optional at Driving Shows (The shows are often small and regular showmanship classes are usually 5 or less)

6. Change Showmanship Medals and Medal qualification to be unique to each division (i.e. qualify and compete for western games showmanship medals only at western games shows and Performance showmanship medals only at performance shows), which would simplify record keeping and allow easier crossover between performance and western games since a western games rider in showmanship medals would be able to enter walk/trot classes
