Effective January 1, 2009 any forage transported into all US Forest Service Lands is required to be commercially processed feed pellets and/or certified weed-free hay
Objectives:
Provide guided trail riding opportunities for both 4-H club members and their parents.
Improve trail riding skills of both horse and rider by exposing them to different types of terrain.
Prepare horse and rider physically for overnight campout.
Teach and encourage respect for the land, wildlife and fellow trail users.
Teach low impact camping techniques and "leave no trace" skills.
Teach basic map reading and compass use skills.
Learn to pack for camping and travel with horses.
Teach members how to care for their horse while camping.
Learn to pack a basic trail kit.
Learn basic safety skills.
Have fun!
Rides take place rain or shine.
Dress appropriately for trail riding and the weather.
Be prepared for sudden weather changes.
be in the saddle and ready to ride by 10am.
Rides dates are subject to change.
5 ride requirement for attendance at overnight campout to assure that both horse and rider are prepared and in condition for 3 days of strenuous mountain riding. Name in red means overnight qualified. HELMET (ASTM SEI Certified) AND BOOTS WITH A HEEL ARE REQUIRED!
